Robbery, Possession of Weapon, B&E/Assault: Brockville Police Reports – September 22, 2023

Brockville – Police reports from the Brockville Police Service from September September 16th to 20th, 2023.

Robbery Investigation Leads to an Arrest:

On September 20, 2023, at about 9:00 am, police received a report of a robbery, that took place in the area of the Metro grocery store, on King St. W. It was learned that an unknown male had approached a female in the parking lot, wearing a disguise consisting of a wig and sunglasses.

The suspect proceeded to forcibly take the victim’s purse from her while she was carrying it. The suspect fled the area and discarded some of the items used in the disguise. Shortly after, further information was received that the victim’s banking cards were being used at other locations.

From that, officers discovered a better description of the suspect, which led to his identity. At about 5:00 pm, officers located the suspect in the downtown area and identified him to be a 26-year-old, male. He was arrested and held for bail for the offences of robbery, disguise with intent, possession of a credit card and failure to comply with probation.

Weapons Call:

On September 16, 2023, at about 7:00 a.m., police received a call to attend the area of the LCBO on King St. W., in relation to a male believed to be in possession of a gun and yelling. Officers quickly responded to the area and located the suspect in question. He was identified to be a 20-year-old, male. He did have a holster containing a hand BB gun around his torso. He was arrested and safely taken into custody.

Investigation revealed that he was in some type of verbal altercation, before police arrival. However, the other involved individual was undetermined. It was also believed that, at one point, the suspect had the BB gun out of the holster causing additional concern to witnesses. The male was charged with possession of a
weapon for dangerous purposes and held in custody for a bail hearing.

Break and Enter and Home Owner Assaulted:

On September 16, 2023, at about 7:30 am, police received a call regarding a 24-year-old, male, who entered a residence on Wall St., looking for an individual. While the suspect was in the residence, he assaulted one of the residents by punching them and threatening harm. The suspect left and approximately an hour later, police learned that the same suspect had assaulted a stranger in the area of King St. W. The two victims in these incidents suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

As police were investigating these incidents, reports were received of the suspect coming back to the residence on Wall St. Officers quickly responded and arrested the male after he attempted to flee. After reviewing the facts of both incidents, he was held in
custody for a bail hearing on the following charges; break and enter, two counts of assault, uttering threats and four counts of failure to comply with probation.
