Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Charges in Gananoque

Gananoque – On August 31, 2021, officers of the Gananoque Police Service entered into an investigation after officers observed a truck on King St East bearing out of province licence plates that were unauthorized for the vehicle.

Officers arrested the male driver for unauthorized plates and continued the investigation of the motor vehicle, locating open alcohol containers within. Further search of the vehicle revealed a substantial quantity of suspected Crystal Methamphetamine, Gabapentin pills, digital scales and packaging materials.

The male’s vehicle was towed, and he was returned to the Gananoque Police Service. The value of the drugs is estimated at approximately $8400. A 40-year-old Kingston man is charged with 2 counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking a schedule 1 substance and 3 counts of failing to comply with a release order. The male was held in custody and is to be held for a show cause hearing.
