Traffic Stop in Prescott Leads to Drug Trafficking Charge

PRESCOTT AND AUGUSTA TOWNSHIP – On December 4, 2021, shortly after 7:00 p.m., officers from the Grenville County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint for a vehicle traveling eastbound on County Road 2, in Augusta Township.

The vehicle was located as it entered the Town of Prescott and a traffic stop was conducted on King Street West. Officers entered into an investigation after cannabis was observed readily available in the vehicle. Officers then conducted a search and located over 100 grams of cannabis and over 150 tablets of suspected methamphetamine. Police also found digital scales and shotgun ammunition.

Kyle SUMMERS, 38 years of age, of South Dundas, Ontario, was charged with:

·      Failure to comply with Undertaking – contrary to Section 145(4)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC)

·      Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – Contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA)

The accused was later released and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Brockville on January 7, 2022.
