Impaired Driving Charges for Prescott Driver

Proactive patrols also result in 3-day licence suspension for alcohol

Augusta Twsp. – On November 27, 2021, shortly before 5:30 p.m., an officer with the Grenville County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was proactively patrolling on Highway 401 westbound, in Augusta Township, and located a vehicle ahead that was being driven erratically.

The officer followed the vehicle for a short period of time and made observations before conducting a traffic stop to investigate suspected impaired driving. After an investigation at the roadside, the driver was arrested.

As a result of the investigation a 39-year-old Prescott woman was charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs – Contrary to Section 320.14(1)(a) of the Criminal Code.

The accused was later released and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Brockville on December 17, 2021.

The same officer proactively stopped another vehicle the following evening just after 7:00 p.m., on Cedar Grove Road, in Augusta Township, and found another driver that had consumed alcohol before operating a vehicle. That roadside investigation resulted in a 3-day licence suspension for a male driver from Edwardsburgh Cardinal Township.

The OPP reminds motorists to plan ahead when consuming alcohol. Use a designated driver, cab, public transit, or stay overnight. Any amount of alcohol or drugs can impact your ability to make sound judgements.
