Gananoque – Police reports from the Gananoque Police Service from September 25th to 29th and October 7, 2021.
On October 07, 2021, the Gananoque Police Service was contacted by the Central East Correctional Center and were advised that they were due to release a male for whom the Gananoque Police hold a Bench Warrant. Officers attended and returned the male to the Gananoque Police Service. The male had originally been arrested for Drive While Prohibited and had subsequently failed to attend Court. A 33-year-old male from Brampton was held in custody pending a show cause hearing.
On September 25, 2021, officers of the Gananoque Police Service responded to a call for service regarding an assault that had taken place in the area of James Street in the Town of Gananoque. The complainant advised that he was walking home with a friend when he was approached by a male known to him. The complainant stated that the male was upset due to the nature of the conversation he and his friend were having. The male is alleged to have shoved the complainant to the ground and struck him once in the head. On September 26, a 29-year-old Gananoque man was arrested for Assault and later released by way of an Undertaking. He is to appear in Court at a later time.
On September 28, 2021, officers of the Gananoque Police Service responded to a local business regarding allegations of threats being uttered toward a staff member by an agitated male. Police attended and spoke to both parties and formed the grounds that a threat had been uttered. An 88-year-old Gananoque man was arrested and charged with Utter Threats to Cause Bodily Harm. He was released by way of an Undertaking and is to appear in Court at a later time.
On September 29, 2021, officers of the Gananoque Police Service received a call from Quinte Detention Center advising that a male currently wanted by the Gananoque Police was in their custody and was due for release. The Warrant was held in relation to an incident that occurred in Gananoque on July 08, 2021, where a local youth reported being assaulted and threatened with a firearm in a public park. The male was returned to Gananoque Police Service where he was held for a show cause hearing for the offences of Use Firearm in the Commission of an Offence, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, Carry Concealed Weapon, Assault with a Weapon, and two counts of Fail to Comply Probation.
On September 29, 2021, a youth, as defined by the Youth Criminal Justice Act, attended Gananoque Police Service regarding an unrelated matter. Police were aware that a Bench Warrant existed for the arrest of the youth for failing to attend Court the previous day. The youth was arrested for failing to reattend Court and later released by way of an Undertaking. The Youth is to appear in Court at a later time.
