Brockville – When a community comes together for a single cause, the benefits are far reaching. In mid-August, 12 community members came together for a fundraising golf tournament and raised an amazing $18,450 – all of which is being donated to the Champions for Kids Foundation (C4K).
The tournament was held at the Brockville Country Club and was organized by C4K Founder David K. Thomas and his wife Nancy Hanna. Although neither are formally involved with the foundation anymore, both have been proud supporters since the foundation’s inception in 2009.
The financial donation will be used to support students in the Upper Canada District School Board (UCDSB) with activities such as sports, music lessons, tutoring and counselling, and to help cover the costs of medical expenses, such as eyeglasses.
“We couldn’t hold our annual C4K golf tournament this summer due to worries related to the pandemic, but it’s comforting to see local community members join and organize their own fundraisers. Their kindness and generosity are felt and appreciated. These funds will go a long way to helping our students enjoy activities outside the classroom, but also help families meet basic needs,” says C4K president Casey Nelson.
The C4K Foundation would like to thank local business donors including Point 9 Strategic Consulting Inc., the Rotary Club of Smiths Falls, Fraser Mediation Services, Beatty Family Charitable Foundation, Addvent 10 Management Inc., and the many other individual donors for their generous contributions.
