Brockville Museum Launches a Special “Christmas edition” At-Home DIY Activity

Brockville – Based on the success of the Brockville Museum’s Heritage Skills DIY Kits last spring, a special “Christmas edition” is now available! The DIY Kits have been extremely popular and have given people a chance to explore the Brockville of by-gone days through dynamic do-it-yourself activities, all in the comfort of your own home.

The “Christmas edition” was made available for pre-order on November 19th and will be available for pickup at the Museum starting on Friday, December 3 during the museum’s operating hours (Tues. – Sat. 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.).

Curbside pickup may be arranged. If you choose to enter the museum, as per Provincial Government Regulations you will be asked to provide a vaccination certificate and government-issued identification.

All kits contain an illustrated History Booklet to help guide you through the activities that explore the history of Christmas in Brockville. Also included is a reproduced page of a local newspaper from Christmases gone by, a period menu that includes a recipe for you to make (specialty ingredients are included), and 2 to 3 different skills and activities to try (most supplies are included).

Peggy Hause, the museum’s Interpretation and Public Program Co-ordinator who created the DIY kit noted that “they are created in a way to give participants a taste of what Brockville was like during a beloved time of year in different eras and it provides a unique at-home experience that gives both adults and children the opportunity to try their hands at different historic skills.”

An excellent idea for a Christmas gift, kits are available for only $20 each.

To order, contact the Brockville Museum either by email museum@brockville.com or call Peggy at (613) 342-4397 x6225.
