Brockville & District Hospital Foundation’s Annual Appeal is Nearing Goal

Brockville –  Having a state-of-the-art Bronchoscope Tower at Brockville General Hospital’s (BGH) Ambulatory Care Program is closer to becoming a reality. This year, the Brockville and District Hospital Foundation (BDHF) is aiming to raise $200,000 for the Bronchoscope Tower.

Since the Annual Appeal began in early November, over $134,000 has been raised. Joan Simon, BDHF’s Executive Director shared, “Having a bronchope tower will be a first for BGH; which will mean that individuals requiring a bronchoscopy will no longer have to travel to Kingston or Ottawa for this type of procedure. The BDHF is very grateful for the show of community support and how well the appeal is progressing.”

Longstanding BDHF supporters, Lesia and Bill Maxwell, shared why they support the Annual Appeal. “We are pleased to contribute to this year’s appeal to help the Brockville District Hospital in acquiring critical diagnostic equipment that reduces travel time for patient care.”

A bronchoscope tower is used by a Respirologist to detect the cause of breathing difficulties and lung problems. It is a highly complex system that combines special lighting, recording and cameras to look inside a patient’s lungs and airways.
