Brockville – The manager of the Ontario SPCA Leeds & Grenville Animal Centre in Brockville is hitting the road on Thursday, June 10 for a 12 hour, 245-kilometre cycling expedition that will see her ride between three Ontario SPCA animal centres in support of the Society’s Sweat for Pets virtual fundraising campaign.
Riding between Ontario SPCA animal centres in Eastern Ontario, Marianne Carlyle will depart from the Ontario SPCA Lennox & Addington Animal Centre in Napanee at 6 a.m. and is expected to arrive in Brockville at the Leeds & Grenville Animal Centre around 11:30 a.m.
She will then resume her cycling adventure at 12 noon by heading to the Ontario SPCA Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry Animal Centre in Cornwall, where she is anticipated to arrive around 6 p.m.
The five-week campaign kicked off on May 25 and inspires participants to get active while raising funds in support of vulnerable animals across Ontario. Participants can run, walk, ride, swim or create a unique challenge of their own. Choose a challenge that fits your fitness level and abilities. The ride marks the third of Carlyle’s fundraising challenge activities, with two more planned in the coming weeks.
“Sweat for Pets is a critical fundraiser for the Ontario SPCA and Humane Society and we need the public’s support to continue to help vulnerable animals,” says Carlyle. “Make a donation, or create your own unique challenge. While you’re sweating, encourage your family, friends and co-workers to pledge their support.”
