Brockville – The 5th Annual MyView Film Festival Awards Ceremony is being held this Thursday, June 8th at the Brockville Arts Centre.

Youth ages 10-24 across Eastern Ontario were busy this spring making short videos about something important to them. Eight original local films have been nominated as finalists for the 2017 MyView Youth Film Festival.

Keep Our Spaces Beautiful by Stewart Travers from Ottawa
Mr. Bully by Cole VanStoken from Kemptville
Canada 150, Canada and War by Luke Gardiner from Brockville
Who Gets to Decide What Beauty Is? by Vanessa Birt from Mallorytown
Perfection by Holly Sparks from Lansdowne
Plain & Standardized Packaging by the Boys and Girls Club of Cornwall
One Two Three by Theresa Graham from Bishop’s Mills
Costa Rica by Elliot Stickle from Nepean

Everyone is encouraged to go online to www.myviewfilmfest.ca to view the nominated films and vote for your favourite. Final winners are determined by a blend of online votes and judge’s scores.

The judges this year are:

Alexa Waycik – Grand Prize winner from the 2016 MyView Festival
Bridget Manahan – Kemptville Youth Centre Program Coordinator
Drew Hosick – Juice FM in Kemptville
Eric Duncan – Mayor of North Dundas
Jeff Earle – Brockville City Councillor
Sabrina Bedford – Brockville Recorder and Times Reporter

The awards ceremony starts at 7pm at the Brockville Arts Centre (235 King St West). Come and walk the red carpet, meet the film-makers, see the nominated films on the big screen in a beautifully restored historic theatre and find out the winners of the great prizes!

Category prizes are donated by CogecoTV in Kemptville, and the grand prize of $1000 is provided by Video Communications Ltd, owned by Producer/Director Chris Cochrane of Brockville.
