Smiths Falls – The Rockland Nationals’ offense had a big night on Friday night in Smiths Falls, peppering the Smiths Falls Bears with 29 shots throughout the game to win 2-1 over the Bears.
The Rockland Nationals took the lead early in the third on a goal from Mathieu Blanchette. Mathieu Blanchette contributed with 2 goals.
In the second period, Blanchette opened the scoring for Rockland with a goal at 1:38 with helpers from teammates Brennan ‘a’ and Pruneau.
During the third, Blanchette netted what turned out to be the game winning goal at 0:42 with assists from Leblanc and Rennalls ‘a’. Bygrave finally put the Bears on the board with a goal at 8:52 with a helper from Lalonde.
The Nationals’ victory was in no doubt helped out by Storr’s big night as he stopped 40 of the 41 shots he faced. Storr’s counterpart, Dobson, also had a big night, managing to stop 27 of 29, but ultimately fell short.
This win brings the Rockland Nationals’ record to (16-16-1-1).
