Recap of CCHL Tier 2 Action Over the Weekend

Sunday Action:

There were two afternoon games to go along with one game at night between Brockville and Athens. Winchester extended their winning streak to three games while Arnprior and Brockville were able to snap their two game losing streaks.

Winchester 7, Richmond 3

Danny Johnson collected 1 G / 3 A for his third four-point game of the season. Guertin added three assists while Noah Fraser scores twice. Vitale, Neilsen and Haw also got on the scoresheet with 1 G / 1 A. Lucas Devries made 20 saves for his ninth win this season.

Adam Goodfellow collected 1G / 1A in the Richmond loss. It’s Winchester’s 17th win this season while Richmond are still winless in 2020.

Arnprior 2, Whitewater 1

The Packers gave up the first goal in the first but were able to score two unanswered goals to give Arnprior their 17th win this season. Jake Rampton and Jacob Cover were the goal scorers. Cameron Scott made 34 saves in the win.

Brayden Dellaire had the only Whitewater goal in the loss. The Kings have loss three consecutive games. Darian McTavish made his first start in CCHL2 since the 2017-18 season. He played with the Chatham Maroons in the GOJHL. McTavish made 25 saves in his first appearance for Whitewater.

Brockville 6, Athens 3

There was a total of 106 PIM between these two teams during the game. Ryan Glazer and Zach White leads the way offensively by collecting two goals for three points during the game. Flood also tallied 1G / 1A while Toomey and Smith each added two assists.

The Athens Aeros had Kohle McCulloch, Connor Bell and Nolan Brien each tallying a goal in the Athens loss. Shots were 49-36 in favour of Brockville.

 

Saturday Action:

Originally, there were suppose to be five games on the schedule for Saturday but only three games were played. Alexandria vs Athens and Ottawa West vs Carleton Place were postponed due to weather and road conditions throughout the night.

Westport 8, Arnprior 3

Blake Kettyle extends his point streak to six games by collecting his third hat trick of the season. During the night, he collected three goals and two assists. It’s also the third time this season that Kettyle collect 5+ points in a game.

Other notable performances were Matthew Seed adding four assists, Ty Nicholson (1G /2A) and Sean James (2G / 1A) each tallied three points. Anthony Ieradi collected a shorthanded goal on a 5 on 3 power play for Arnrpior.

The Rideaus have won four of their last five games and have scored eight goals in back-to-back home games. Danny Carroll collects two goals in a three-point game in the loss for Arnprior. Shots were 54-40 for Westport and were 3-for-6 on the power play.

F/SO | Renfrew 4, Brockville 3

Renfrew continues to roll with three consecutive wins at home. Noah Maika scores the shootout in the fifth round. Austin Holmes extended his point streak to two games with 1 G / 1 A while Kuehl and Fleming were the other goal scorers for Renfrew.

Cole Jelly collected 1 G / 1 A while Riley Youngs and Owen Mahoney each net one goal as Brockville picks up a point in a shootout loss. Shots were 41-38 in the game for Brockville. The Tikis finish up the weekend against Athens on Sunday night.

Ottawa 5, Char-Lan 1

It was a big night for Alex Frechette, who is playing in his second game in a Canadians uniform after spending the first half of the season with the Rockland Nationals. He collected 2 G / 1A and all of his points came in the third period.

Nicolas Seguin netted one goal and added two assists for a three-point game. Carter and Daher added two assists while Mike Hall also netted one goal for a multi-point game. Conor Corrigan was excellent in between the pipes by making 24 saves for his 9th win this season. OJC is 2-3 to start 2020.

Elie was the only goal scorer for Char-Lan in the loss. The Rebels have loss three of their last four games. Shots were equal at 25. Ottawa’s power play was 1-for-2 while the Rebels went 1-for-3 on the man advantage.

 

Friday Night Action:

It was a busy Friday night with five games and 10 teams were in action. Perth, Alexandria, Char-Lan, Renfrew, and Winchester with big wins.

Perth 3, Brockville 2

The Perth Blue Wings go to 2-2 to start 2020 with a close victory against Brockville. Jacob Servage and Trent Harris each picked up their first goals of the season. Harris’s goal turns out to be game winner. Brayden Jorssen also netted one gosl and Matt Berry added two assists.

RIley Youngs and Tanner Waito each scored once in the Brockville loss after the Tikis picked up a win against Athens on Wednesday night. Alex Zoutis turned in a good performance in net by making 27 saves for his 15th win this season.

Alexandria 8, Richmond 3

No one expected this game to go like the way it did. Alexandria scores five unanswered goals in the first and three unanswered goals in the second for a blowout win against Richmond. Zachary Power, Nico Pozzebon, Mikael Bissonnette, Graham Robertston and Etienne Agius-Pease each collected 1G / 2A for a three-point game.

Ryan Leonard was the only Glens player that was able to net two goals and also had three points. Maxime Desjardins also tallied 1G / 1A. Alexandria snaps their two game losing streak with their next game tonight in Athens.

Zanichny, Williams and Burgess each tallied their first goals of the season in the Richmond loss. The Royals are 0-3-1 to start 2020.

F/OT | Char-Lan 2, Embrun 1

It was a very tight game until the game hit overtime. Noah Konink ends the game with a multi-point effort by scoring the OT winner. Joseph Samson had the games first goal with 50 seconds left in the second period. He had 1G / 1A and snaps his three game pointless streak.

It’s the Rebels first win in 2020 and snaps their three game losing streak. Carter Peck collects the only goal in the Embrun loss. It snaps their four game winning streak. Ceili Picard makes 40 saves for his 5th win this season.

Renfrew 9, Westport 4

The Renfrew Timberwolves scores nine times in back-to-back games for the first time this season. Nolan McGregor picks up his second career hat trick while Klawitter and Kuehl each tally 2G / 2A. Austin Holmes scored in his first game in a Renfrew uniform which turns out to be the game winner.

Zach Martin continues to stay hot by tallying 1G / 3A to extend his point streak to three games. The Timberwolves have now won two consecutive games and have 15 wins on the season. Nicholson (1G / 1A) and Kettyle (2A) each tallied two points in the loss. Shots were 42-29 in favour of Renfrew.

Winchester 4, Carleton Place 3

Colby Schroeder scores with 48 seconds left to complete a third period comeback after trailing 3-2 very early in the third. It extends his point streak to two games and has 3G / 6A in his last seven games. Kuehni, Vitale and Guertin were the other goal scorers for Winchester.

Michael Patchell extends his goal streak to two games by scoring twice in the Carleton Place loss. Connor Nicoll also had the other marker. The Canadians snaps their five game winning streak. Mitchell Bradley makes 48 saves for his first regulation loss of the season. Shots were 52-37 for Winchester.
