Kemptville 73’s Lose Both Games Over Weekend

Kemptville – The Kemptville 73’s lost both their games on Friday and Sunday in Central Canada Hockey League Tier 1 action over the weekend.

On Friday night the 73’s were in Rockland to play the Nationals who beat Kemptville 4-2.

Affiliate Louis Chabot scored the game-winning goal for the injury-plagued Rockland Nationals.

Trevor Coykendall, Benjamin Pruneau and Mathieu Blanchette also found the mark for the Nationals (12-13-2), who snapped an eight-game skid with the win over last-place Kemptville (5-20-1).

Newly-acquired Joel Frazee scored in the defeat for Jeff Jordan’s 73’s, who earned the dubious distinction of being the first team to the 20-loss mark this season.

On Sunday Kemptville hosted the Smiths Falls Bears who came out of the game with a 6-1 win over the 73’s.

A third-period explosion helped the Smiths Falls Bears blow out the hometown Kemptville 73’s.

Marc Shannon netted a hat-trick in the win for the Bears (9-14-3), who outshot the 73’s (5-21-1) a whopping 42-12.

Matthieu Franche and Hunter Garlasco each added a pair of assists in the win for Mark Grady’s surging Smiths Falls team.

The 73’s travel to Kanata on Thursday evening to face the Lazers at the Kanata Recreation Complex. Game time is 7:30pm.
