Brockville – The Brockville Braves won one and lost one over the weekend in Central Canada Hockey League Tier 1 action in Brockville Friday night and in Rockland on Sunday.
Friday night the Braves were blanked 4-0 by the Hawkesbury Hawks at the Brockville Memorial Centre.
All-graduate defenceman Colin Stevens paced the Hawkesbury Hawks with three points (1G, 2A) in the 4-0 win over Brockville.
Goaltender Matt Petizian pitched a 40-save shutout between the pipes for the Hawks (10-5-0), while Justin Evenson was pulled in the loss for Brockville (10-9-0).
Tyler Boivin had a multi-point effort (1G, 1A) in the Hawkesbury win, while captain David Jankowski potted an assist and now has points in six of his last seven.
On Sunday afternoon Brockville travelled to Rockland to face the Nationals.
A Jordi Jefferson double fired the Brockville Braves past the hometown Rockland Nationals, 4-3, at CIH Arena.
Captain Andrew Jarvis had a trio of points (1G, 2A) in the win for Jesse Winchester’s Braves (11-9-0), who moved up to fourth in the CCHL with the win over Rockland (11-6-2).
Fred Allaire scored the game-winning goal at 5:28 of the third period, but a response tally from Nationals captain Drew Shields just 89 seconds later made for a tense final 14 minutes.
The Braves travel to Kanata on Thursday to play the Lazers. The puck drops at 7:30pm at the Kanata Recreation Complex – Tom Flood Arena.
