Brockville – The Brockville Braves lost 5-4 to the Ottawa Junior Senators on Friday night in Central Canada Hockey League Tier 1 action at the Memorial Centre.
In the first period Ottawa’s Nick Lalonde (8) with an assist by Chiwetin Blacksmith (7) on the powerplay scored the first goal of the game for the Jr. Sens at 7:09 into the period. Brockville’s Jonathan Hill (2) tied it up at 1-1 at 8:33 in the first on the powerplay assisted by Philippe Gilmour (3) and Simon Mack (1).
Ottawa would take a 2-1 lead at the end of the first on a lone goal by Craig McCabe (1).
In the second perios, Brockville’s Fred Allaire (1) would tie it at 2-2 at 4:30 in the period. Assists went to James Walker (1) and Joseph Crump (1). Ottawa would respond with two more goals by Chiwetin Blacksmith (3) ASST: Conor Smart (2) and Pierre-Luc Veillette (2) ASST: Adrien Bisson (4), Darcy Walsh (3) to take the lead 4-2. The braves picked up one more on a goal by Philippe Gilmour (3) ASST: Nicholas Hawkins (3), Eric Holland (3) at 18:46 to trail 4-3 after the second.
The Braves would tie it up once again at 4-4 in the third on a goal by Joshua Spratt (2). Assists went to Ben Macdonald (1), and Eric Faith (3). Ottawa would go on to win 5-4 after a goal in the third by Chiwetin Blacksmith (4) ASST: Conor Smart (3), John Kuhl (2).
The Braves travel to Pembroke on Sunday to face the Lumber Kings. Game time is 7:00pm.
