……………………..HEAT WARNING continues for our entire region for today. A period of hot weather continues. Daytime high temperatures in excess of 30 degrees Celsius, with humidex values in the high thirties to low forties, are expected. Overnight lows near 20 degrees Celsius are also expected through this period, providing little relief from the heat. A slightly cooler airmass may move into the area this weekend, however there is considerable uncertainty. A few areas towards eastern Ontario are likely to experience extreme heat and high humidex values on Saturday as well………………………………………………..

Bears Lose 4-2 to Pembroke Friday Night in CCHL

Smiths Falls – The Smiths Falls Bears lost a 4-2 decision to the Pembroke Lumber Kings in Central Canada Hockey League action at the Smiths Falls Memorial Centre Friday night.

Andrew Poulias, Brady Egan, Fletcher Anderson, and Cameron Hough all netted goals, while Reece Proulx made 29-saves as Pembroke improved to 28-22-2-1 on the year.
Brent Broaders and Brendan Dempsey both scored for the Bears in the second period. Smiths Falls saw their record fall to 28-19-2-2.

Despite the loss, the Bears out-shot Pembroke 31 to 21.

Smiths Falls travels to Navan on Sunday afternoon to play the Grads. Game time there is 3:00pm.
