LEEDS – Members of the Ontario Provincial Police are continuing an investigation into a wrong way driver on Highway 401.
On the September 7, 2017 at about 8:30 P.M. Ontario Provincial Police officers, in Leeds County were advised of a vehicle that was driving westbound in the eastbound lanes at Mallorytown. The driver was located without incident in the same area.
The driver advised officers that he was following his GPS directions.
Leeds Operation Manager, Acting Staff Sergeant Josh Kingsley said “Travellers should not rely solely on technology such as GPS for navigation. The danger of being lulled into a false sense of security is a concern. We’re asking for caution, common sense and safety.”
A 22 year old Woodstock man has been charged with Driving Wrong Way – One way Traffic contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and for failing to have an Insurance Card.
There were no injuries or collisions as a result of this incident.
