LEEDS – Officers of the Rideau Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are continuing an investigation after a woman was rescued after driving off of a boat launch.

On May 11, 2018, at about 11:55 P.M O.P.P officers were advised that a female had just driven off a boat launch in Rideau Lakes Township.  OPP arrived within 5 minutes to Forrester’s Landing Drive to find a fully submerged vehicle about 50 meters out from land in Upper Rideau Lake. An OPP ERT (Emergency Response Team) member and a volunteer firefighter dove into the water and assisted the female from her vehicle to safety.

Lifesaving efforts were commenced and the 57-year-old woman was transported to hospital in Kingston where she remains in critical condition.

The investigation continues.
