Two suspects arrested for breaking into Churches

Smiths Falls – The Smiths Falls Police Service have arrested and charged two local men following the investigation into a string of break and enters to local churches and thefts from unlocked vehicles. The incidents occurred through the month of July. An extensive investigation concluded with the execution of a search warrant at a Smiths Falls residence in which a quantity of the stolen property was recovered.

Twenty-five year old, Matthew Fisher of Smiths Falls is charged with 5 counts of Break and Enter with Intent, 1 count of Attempted Break and Enter, 7 counts of Theft Under $5000.00 and 1 count of Mischief Under $5000.00.

Twenty-four year old, Nathan Barrie of Smiths Falls is charged with 6 counts of Break and Enter with Intent and 4 counts of Theft Under $5000.00.

Both suspects were scheduled to appear in court for a bail hearing on August 3, 2017, to answer to these charges.
