Two More Impaired Drivers Caught in Leeds County

LEEDS – Members of the Leeds County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged two more impaired drivers.

On May 17th, 2019 at about 10:15 p.m. Leeds County officers stopped a vehicle for traffic related offences, eastbound on Highway 401 in Elizabethtown Township. After an investigation, the driver, Yavor VLADEV, 35 years old of Contrecoeur, QC was charged with driving with more than 80 Mgs of alcohol in his blood. He faces further charges under the Highway Traffic and Liquor License Act.

On May 22, 2019 at about 6:20 p.m. OPP officers of the Thousand Islands office of the Leeds Detachment received reports of a boat hitting a shoal on Charleston Lake. Officers arrived and found the boat operator asleep behind the wheel of his motor vehicle. Michael VERTINO, 55 years old of Syracuse, NY was charged with two counts of impaired driving and two counts of driving with more than 80 Mgs of alcohol in his blood.

Both drivers are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brockville at a future date to answer to the charges.
