Traffic Stop Leads to Criminal Charge

Smiths Falls – On Friday September 8, 2017 at approximately 10:29 p.m., police conducted a traffic stop on Beckwith Street North for a traffic violation.  Investigation revealed that the 57 year old male driver, of Smiths Falls, had a strong odour of alcohol coming from inside the motor vehicle.

Police conducted a roadside screening device on the driver and he blew a “Fail” reading.  The suspect was placed under arrest and is charged with, operating a motor vehicle with more than 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood.

The suspect was later released by way of a promise to appear in court to answer to this charge.
