LEEDS – Officers of the Leeds and the Thousand Islands Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are continuing an investigation into an impaired driver stopped at a R.I.D.E check.
On March 7, 2018 at about 2:00 AM O.P.P officers were conducting a RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) check on County Road 2 at Highway 401 in Leeds and the Thousand Islands Township. Officers arrested a male driver and charged him after an investigation with Driving with over 80 Mgs of Alcohol in his Blood.
22 year old Wyatt STEACY of the same township was later released and is scheduled to appear in Ontario Court of Justice, Brockville on March 23, 2018 to answer to his charge.
While Leeds OPP officers do increase their number of R.I.D.E. stops over the holidays, they are reminding drivers that R.I.D.E. stops are carried out throughout the year, throughout the province as part of the OPP’s Provincial Traffic Safety Program.
