Theft of Motor Vehicles Ends in Pursuit

LEEDS – Members of the Leeds County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating the theft of two motor vehicles.

On September 10, 2019 just before 2:30 a.m. OPP officers responded to reports of a stolen vehicle from a residence on County Road 26, Elizabethtown Township. The vehicle was observed fleeing eastbound from the area and possibly travelling with a pickup truck. Officers from the Leeds County Detachment and the Grenville Detachment patrolled the area and located the pickup truck on County Road 15. Investigation found that the pick-up truck had also been stolen.

A 25 year old male from Windsor was charged with:

• Theft over $5000 of a motor vehicle

• Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000 – two counts

• Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000

The other vehicle was located and failed to stop for police on Highway 401, westbound from Maitland but was eventually stopped.

A 17 year old male from Kingston was charged with:

• Theft over $5000 of a motor vehicle

• Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000 – two counts

• Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000

• Dangerous operation

• Operation while prohibited

• Fail to comply with probation order – five counts

• Flight from peace officer

A 15 year old female from Kingston was charged with:

• Theft over $5000 of a motor vehicle

• Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000 – two counts

• Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000

• Fail to comply with probation order – two counts

• Possession of prohibited device or ammunition for dangerous purpose

The investigation is ongoing.
