Stunt Driving Stop Uncovers Guns and Drugs

LEEDS –  Members of the Leeds County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a driver and four occupants following a traffic stop for stunt driving.

On May 15, 2019 at about 2:10 a.m. OPP officers of the Thousand Islands office of the Leeds Detachment stopped a westbound vehicle on Highway 401 in Front Leeds-Lansdowne Township. The vehicle was travelling at almost double the posted speed limit. Investigation revealed there was cannabis in the vehicle, readily available to the driver. Officers located and seized two loaded handguns.

The four occupants of the vehicle face charges of:

• Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose x2

• Carrying a concealed weapon x2

• Possession of prohibited or restricted firearm/ammunition x2

• Occupant of motor vehicle knowing where was a firearm x2

• Possession of over 30g dried cannabis in a public place

The driver, Cathy ORESTIL, 21 years old of Montreal was charged with:

• Unauthorized possession of a firearm x2

• Stunt driving (Highway Traffic Act)

Steven BRICE PIERRE, age 20 of Montreal was charged with:

• Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm x2

• Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to Prohibition order x2

• Fail to comply with probation order x2

Kevin RAMINARAINE, age 19 of Terrebonne, QC was charged with:

• Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm x2

• Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to Prohibition order x2

• Fail to comply with Recognizance x2

• Possession of break in instruments

Leroy MASSENA, age 22 of Montreal was charged with:

• Unauthorized possession of a firearm x2

• Fail to comply with probation order x2

• Obstruct Peace Officer

All four were held for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brockville.
