LEEDS – Members of the Ontario Provincial Police are investigating a stunt driver on Highway 401.
On the August 13, 2017 at about 1:40 AM Ontario Provincial Police officers in Leeds and the Thousand Islands Township stopped a speeding car travelling westbound on Highway 401, east of Ivy Lea. Speeds were in excess of 57 kilometres over the speed limit. As a result of the investigation, a 17 year old male from Kitchener found his vehicle towed, and impounded for 7 days. He is scheduled to appear at Brockville Provincial Offences Court at a later date to answer to the stunt driving charge.
Investigation revealed that a further passenger, who was one of 6, was located lying down in the locked trunk of the car. A 17 year old male faces a seatbelt charge under the Highway Traffic Act.
