Driver arrested for Over 80 On Monday August 21, 2017 at approximately 10:02 p.m. police received a call for a possible impaired driver on Main Street East, Smiths Falls. Police located the vehicle and investigation revealed that the 18 year old male driver of Smiths Falls had more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres in his blood while operating a motor vehicle. Upon searching the driver incident to arrest, police located a small quantity of a controlled substance. The driver had his vehicle impounded and driver’s license suspended for a period of 90 days as a result.

The driver was charged with operating a motor vehicle with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood and possession of a controlled substance. He was later released by way of a promise to appear in court and officer in charge undertaking to answer to these charges.

Traffic stop nets drug charges On Tuesday August 22, 2017 at approximately 12:16 p.m. police stopped a motor vehicle on McGill Street North, Smiths Falls. Investigation revealed that the 38 year old male driver of Smiths Falls was a suspended driver. Police arrested the driver and located a quantity of controlled substances upon searching incident to arrest.

The suspect was charged with 2 counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking a controlled substance and possession of property obtained by crime under $5000.00. The suspect was later released by way of a promise to appear in court and officer in charge undertaking to answer to these charges.

Female arrested for mischief and breaching her release conditions On Thursday August 24, 2017 at approximately 8:14 a.m. police received a call to attend a residence on Maple Avenue North, Smiths Falls, in regards to a mischief. Investigation revealed that a 24 year old female suspect had damaged property of the resident and breached her officer in charge undertaking conditions. The suspect was later located and placed under arrest.

The suspect is charged with 1 count of mischief under $5000.00 and 3 breaches of her officer in charge undertaking release conditions. The suspect was later released by way of a promise to appear in court and officer in charge undertaking to answer to these charges.

Driving complaint results in impaired driver arrest On Thursday August 24, 2017 at approximately 9:57 p.m., police received a call from a concerned motorist who was reporting a suspected impaired driver. Police located and conducted a traffic stop on the motor vehicle on Lombard Street, Smiths Falls. Investigation revealed that the 55 year old male driver from Nepean, Ontario was impaired by alcohol.

The suspect was placed under arrest and is charged with; 1 count of operating a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol and 1 count of operating a motor vehicle while having more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. The suspect had his driver’s license suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for 7 days as a result. The suspect was later released by way of a promise to appear in court when sober, to answer to these charges.
