Male arrested for shoplifting On Thursday May 4, 2017 at approximately 8:50 a.m. a 28 year old male suspect entered a business on Lombard Street, Smiths Falls. While inside the business the suspected selected several items, concealed them and exited the store with making any attempt to pay for them. The suspect fled the store after being confronted by a staff member. The suspect was located by police a short time later and placed under arrest. The accused is charged with theft under $5000.00 and numerous breaches of his probation and conditional sentence order. The suspect was held for a bail hearing to answer to these charges.
Male arrested for impaired driving On Friday May 5, 2017 at approximately 11:02 a.m. a 63 year old male driver from Jasper, Ontario was placed under arrest for impaired driving. Investigation revealed that the suspect had been observed operating a motor vehicle in a Lombard Street business parking lot and a concerned business owner suspected he was impaired. Police attended and placed the suspect under arrest for impaired driving. It was confirmed that the suspect had more than the legal limit of alcohol in his blood. The suspect was later released by police by way of a promise to appear in court document.
Male arrested for shoplifting On Friday May 5, 2017 at approximately 12:44 p.m. police were called to attend a business on Lombard Street for a report of a 74 year old male shoplifter. Investigation revealed that the male suspect had entered the business and selected an item and did not make an effort to pay for it before exiting. Police attended and placed the suspect under arrest and later released him from the scene by way of an appearance notice to answer to this charge.
Male arrested for care and control On Wednesday May 10, 2017 at approximately 12:08 a.m. while on foot patrol in the downtown core, police stopped a 40 year old male suspect. Investigation revealed that the suspect was under the influence of alcohol while having care and control of his motor vehicle and that he was over the legal limit. Police arrested the suspect and he was later released by way of a promise to appear in court.
Female student arrested On Wednesday May 10, 2017 at approximately 12:24 p.m. police were called to attend a high school for a report of a student breaching their probation conditions. Investigation revealed that a 15 year old female student had breached her probation order. She was arrested and later released by way of a promise to appear in court.
Male driver arrested as a result of traffic stop On Wednesday May 10, 2017 at approximately 4:30 p.m. police conducted a traffic stop on a motor vehicle on Bay Street North. Investigation revealed that the male driver, a 46 year old, Smiths Falls native was breaching his release conditions. The suspect was arrested and is also charged with a weapons related offence. The suspect was later released by way of a promise to appear and officer in charge undertaking to answer to these charges.
Female arrested for shoplifting On Wednesday May 10, 2017 at approximately 4:43 p.m. police were called to attend a business on Beckwith Street North for a report of a shoplifter. Police attended and investigation revealed that a 51 year old female of Smiths Falls had entered the business and selected several items, concealed them and made no effort to pay as she exited the business. Police later located and arrested the suspect and released her by way of an appearance notice to answer to this charge.
