STORMONT DUNDAS & GLENGARRY – The SD&G Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating several incidents after responding to 173 calls for service from Friday October 12, 2018 to Monday October 15, 2018.

DANGEROUS DRIVER

SOUTH GLENGARRY – On October 10, 2018 at approximately 2:28pm, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police officer attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation on County Road 25, South Glengarry Township. The vehicle failed to comply with the request and continued on. The driver attempted to strike police with his vehicle and fled the area. No injuries were suffered by officers.

On October 11, 2018 SD&G OPP located Norman BANKLEY (58) of North Glengarry, Ontario and was arrested and is charged with:

– Flight while pursued by peace officers

– Dangerous Operation of a motor vehicle

– Fail to Comply with conditions of a probation order ( 2 counts)

– Assault Peace officer while threatening to use a weapon

– Assault with intent to resist arrest

– Drive while ability impaired – motor vehicle

He was held in custody (bail) and is scheduled to appear in Cornwall court.

CHARGES LAID

SOUTH DUNDAS – As a result of a sexual assault investigation conducted by members of the Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police, a 22 year old male resident of Nunavut was arrested on October 12, 2018. Investigation indicated the male had sexually assaulted an adult female known to him.

The 22-year old male resident of Nunavut faces charges of:

– Sexual Assault

He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Morrisburg court on October 23, 2018.

The name of the accused is being withheld in order to protect the identity of the victim.

BREAK IN

NORTH GLENGARRY – On October 12, 2018 at approximately 2:20pm, Stormont, Dundas &Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police responded to a report of a break in at a residence on D’Aoust Road, North Glengarry, Ontario. Investigation indicated that sometime in the previous days culprit(s) entered the residence and removed multiple tools, power tools and a Honda generator from the location.

MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION RESULTS IN CHARGES

NORTH STORMONT – On October 12, 2018 at approximately 7:52pm, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police officer responded to two vehicle collision on County Road 43, North Stormont Township. A driver of one of the vehicles fled the scene but was successfully intercepted by officers a short time later on private property. Further investigation revealed the vehicle was stolen earlier in the day.

A check of the male driver revealed his driving privileges were suspended stemming from previous driving related offences.

Nicko CHARBONNEAU (46) of North Glengarry, Ontario was arrested and is charged with:

– Possession of Property obtained by crime over $5000

– Trespassing at night

– Drive while under suspension ( 2 counts) Highway Traffic Act

– Careless Driving (HTA)

– Fail to remain (HTA)

– Novice Driver – Blood Alcohol Concentration above zero (HTA)

– Class G1 licence holder – unaccompanied by qualified driver (HTA)

He was released and scheduled to appear in Cornwall court on November 15, 2018.

IMPAIRED DRIVER

SOUTH GLENGARRY – On October 13, 2018 at approximately 4:43pm, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a traffic complaint on Concession Road 4 in South Glengarry Township. The investigation revealed that the adult male driver was under the influence of alcohol.

Brain MCCUAIG(67) of South Glengarry, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;

– Drive a Motor Vehicle while Impaired

– Drive a Motor Vehicle with over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol in blood

– Driving while Disqualified

He was released and is scheduled to appear in Cornwall Court November 11, 2018.
