STORMONT, DUNDAS & GLENGARRY – The SD&G Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating several incidents after responding to 132 calls for service from Wednesday January 2, 2018 to Friday January 4, 2019.

Among these occurrences, SD&G OPP responded to:

–            12 Motor Vehicle collisions

–            13 calls for Police assistance

–            14 – 911 calls

–            19 traffic complaints

–            7 Traffic enforcement occurrences

–            18 RIDE Programs

–            3 Family disputes

–            2 warrant calls

–            5 thefts calls

–            6 Alarms

–            4 Frauds

–           2 Property related

EXCESSIVE SPEEDS

Between January 2, 2019, and January 3, 2019 SD&G OPP officers conducted speed measuring enforcement on Highway 401, intercepted a vehicle(s) for traveling at excessive speeds. The vehicle was impounded and the driver’s permit seized for seven (7) days in accordance to policy.

– January 2, 2019 – 2:48pm (South Stormont) vehicle stopped travelling 168km/h (100km/h zone) on Hwy 401. Male driver (24) from Toronto, Ontario was charged with Stunt Driving (Highway Traffic Act).

– January 2, 2019 – 3:17pm (South Stormont) vehicle stopped travelling 154km/h (100km/h zone) on Hwy 401. Male driver (33) from the Philippines was charged with Stunt Driving (Highway Traffic Act).

– January 3, 2019 – 8:16pm (South Glengarry) vehicle stopped travelling 157km/h (100km/h zone) on Hwy 401. Male driver (49) from Laval, Quebec was charged with Stunt Driving (Highway Traffic Act).
