SD&G – SD&G OPP News Reports for May 2nd, 2017.

IMPAIRED DRIVERS – DRUGS SEIZED

South Stormont – On April 28, 2017 at approximately 9:33pm, a Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer intercepted a vehicle which was parked on the shoulder of Highway 401, South Stormont Township. The stop revealed that the adult male driver was under the influence of alcohol.

Budhi BISWA (24) of St-Jerome, Quebec was arrested and is charged with;

– Care or Control of a Motor Vehicle While Impaired

– Care or Control of a Motor Vehicle With Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol in Blood

– Having Care or Control of a Motor Vehicle With Liquor Readily Available (Liquor Licence Act)

He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on May 18, 2017.

North Dundas – On April 29, 2017 at approximately 7:16pm, an SD&G OPP officer intercepted a vehicle on County Road 43, North Dundas Township. The stop revealed that the adult male driver was under the influence of alcohol. Police also seized a quantity of suspected oxycodone tablets, a firearm, magazines and ammunition (suspect without proper permit).

Daniel KAZYMERCHYK (25) of Ottawa, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;

– Driving a Motor Vehicle While Ability Impaired

– Driving a Motor Vehicle With More Than 80 Milligrams of Alcohol in Blood

– Possession of a Controlled Substance

– Possession of Prohibited Device or Ammunition for Dangerous Purpose (3 counts)

He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on May 9, 2017.

South Glengarry – On April 28, 2017 at approximately 8:26am, an OPP Highway Safety Division (HSD) officer intercepted a vehicle on Highway 401, South Glengarry Township. The stop resulted in the seizure of a quantity of suspected marihuana.

A female passenger, Nikita PERDRO (26) of Brampton, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;

– Possession of a Controlled Substance

She was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Alexandria on June 29, 2017.

South Stormont – On April 30, 2017 at approximately 12:42am, SD&G OPP officers intercepted a vehicle which was parked on the shoulder of County Road 2, South Stormont Township. A check of the adult male driver indicated that his driving privileges were disqualified and suspended from previous incidents. Police also seized a quantity of suspected crack cocaine.

Steve SAUNDERS (51) of Lanark County, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;

– Possession of a Controlled Substance

– Driving While Disqualified (2 counts)

– Fail to Comply with Probation Order (2 counts)

– Driving While Under Suspension (2 counts – Highway Traffic Act)

He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on May 18, 2017.

WEAPON SEIZED

South Stormont – On April 29, 2017 at approximately 2:26pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a residence in the Village of Long Sault, South Stormont Township following a report of an adult male who was in possession of a firearm, thus being in contravention of conditions imposed from previous incidents. Upon his arrest, a quantity of suspected marihuana was also seized.

William MCDONALD (22) of South Stormont Township is charged with;

– Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose

– Possession of a Controlled Substance

– Fail to Comply with Probation Order

He was held in custody pending a court appearance (bail) at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall.

THEFTS

North Dundas – Overnight (April 30 -May 1, 2017) – a shed located at a property on Water Street, North Dundas Township was entered. Inside, a Stihl chainsaw, fishing equipment and assorted hand tools were stolen.

South Dundas – Overnight (April 30 -May 1, 2017) – 2 homemade trailers were taken from a property on Shannette Road, South Dundas Township. They are described as;

– Black 2002 Utility flat deck trailer

– Black 2005 Tandem axle dump trailer

Investigations continue on the above incidents.

EXCESSIVE SPEEDS

Stormont/Dundas – Over the past weekend, SD&G OPP officers conducting speed measuring enforcement in the Counties of Stormont and Dundas intercepted the following vehicles for traveling at excessive speeds. In all stops, the vehicle was impounded and the driver’s permit seized for seven (7) days in accordance to policy.

– April 28, 2017 – 7:05pm (Highway 401 – South Dundas Township); vehicle stopped travelling 173km/h (100km/h zone). Male driver (45) from Toronto, Ontario charged accordingly.

– April 29, 2017 – 9:15pm (Highway 401 – South Stormont Township); vehicle stopped travelling 151km/h (100km/h zone). Male driver (30) from Montreal, Quebec charged accordingly.

– April 29, 2017 – 11:01pm (Highway 401 – South Dundas Township); vehicle stopped travelling 199km/h (100km/h zone). Male driver (26) from Halifax, Nova Scotia charged accordingly.
