South Stormont – SD&G OPP News Reports for May 17th, 2017.
CANADA ROAD SAFETY WEEK ENFORCEMENT
On May 16, 2017 Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Highway Safety Division (HSD) and Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit (CVEU) officers conducted enforcement on Highway 401, South Stormont Township with the focus on construction zones.
At approximately 10:21am, a vehicle was intercepted and resulted in the seizure of quantities of suspected ecstasy and marihuana. The adult male driver and a male passenger were arrested.
Soulaimane OUKHOVIA (19) and Joey ISSA (19) – both from Laval, Quebec are each charged with;
– Possession of a Controlled Substance (2 counts)
Both were released and scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on July 4, 2017.
In addition, the following enforcement results were achieved;
– Speeding – 19 ( including 6 Commercial Vehicles & 2 School Buses)
– Distracted Driving – 2
– Dangerous Goods – Commercial Vehicle – 1
Motorists are reminded to drive with care and focus on the safety of workers present at construction sites…their lives depend on it!!
STOLEN UTILITY TRAILER
South Stormont – On May 16, 2017 between 3-9:00am, a black 2011 8×7′ open utility trailer was stolen from a residence on Rombough Road, South Stormont Township. It has a 1×2″ rail around the perimeter and an electric winch.
An investigation continues.
