SD&G OPP News for Feb 24th – March 2nd, 2020

STORMONT DUNDAS & GLENGARRY – The SD&G Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating several incidents after responding to 374 calls for service from Monday February 24, 2020 to Monday March 2, 2020.

Among these occurrences, SD&G OPP responded to:

–             82 motor vehicle collisions

–             41 calls for Police assistances

–             5- 911 calls

–             21 traffic complaints

–             20 traffic hazards

–             9 Traffic enforcement occurrences

–             4 Domestic disputes

–             8 thefts

–             3 suspicious activity calls

–              8 family disputes

–             3 mental health call

–             5 alarms

–             5 Assault calls

–             3 threat calls

–             7 Fraud call

–             2 Mischief calls

–             4 neighbour disputes

–             4 RIDE Checks

–             3 sudden death investigations

–             2 Animal complaints

–             2 Landlord Tenant act calls

–             4 Break and enter calls

–             3 community service calls

–             1 sexual assault call

–             2 unwanted person calls

ASSAULT – DOMESTIC

(SOUTH DUNDAS,ON) – On February 25, 2020 at approximately 7:11 a.m Stormont Dundas & Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police officers responded to a report of domestic situation in South Dundas Township. Investigation revealed that an adult accused had assaulted and threatened the victim.

A 34-year-old accused of South Dundas, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;

– Assault

– Uttering Threats

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on March 17, 2020.

ASSAULT – DOMESTIC

(NORTH DUNDAS,ON) – On February 25, 2020 at approximately 5:35 p.m Stormont Dundas & Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police officers responded to a report of domestic situation in North Dundas Township. Investigation revealed that an adult accused had assaulted the victim.

A 39-year-old accused of North Grenville, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;

– Assault

– Overcome resistance by attempting to choke, suffocate or strangle another person

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on March 17, 2020.

IMPAIRED DRIVER

(SOUTH GLENGARRY, ON) – On February 28, 2020 at approximately12:07 a.m, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a single motor vehicle collision on County Road 19 in South Glengarry Township.

Investigation revealed that the adult driver was under the influence of alcohol.

Patrick SEGUIN (age 23) of South Glengarry, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;

– Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

– Operation while impaired – alcohol

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall March 12, 2020.

IMPAIRED DRIVER

(SOUTH GLENGARRY, ON) – On February 29, 2020 at approximately 7:56 p.m, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a traffic complaint on County Road 2 in South Glengarry Township.

Investigation revealed that the adult driver was under the influence of alcohol.

Scott HEATH (age 52) of Cornwall, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;

– Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

– Operation while impaired – alcohol

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall March 12, 2020.

BREAK IN

(SOUTH DUNDAS,ON) On February 29, 2020 at approximately 8:00 p.m Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police officers responded to a report of a break-in at a residence on Lakeshore Drive in South Dundas Township.

Investigation indicated that sometime during between – February 28-29, 2020 unknown culprit(s) attended the residence and removed several electronics.

An Investigation continues.

EXCESSIVE SPEEDS

(SD&G) On February 29, 2020- March 1, 2020 Ontario Provincial Police officers conducted speed measuring enforcement in SD&G and intercepted several vehicles for traveling at excessive speeds. The vehicles were impounded and their driver’s permits seized for seven (7) days in accordance to policy and were charged with Stunt Driving (Highway Traffic Act).

– February 29, 2020 at 8:35 p.m (South Dundas) a vehicle was stopped traveling 159km/h (100km/h zone) (Highway 401) – 26-year-old driver from Lasalle, Quebec.

– March 1, 2020 at 2:33 p.m (South Dundas) a vehicle was stopped traveling 159km/h (100km/h zone) (Highway 401) – 33-year-old driver from Quebec.

– March 1, 2020 at 4:59 p.m (South Stormont) a vehicle was stopped traveling 136km/h (80km/h zone) (Highway 138) – 57-year-old driver from South Stormont, Ontario.
