SD&G – SD&G OPP News Briefs for March 9th, 2017.
North Glengarry – On March 8, 2017 at approximately 10:15pm, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a report of a domestic situation at a residence on McCormick Road, North Glengarry Township. Investigation indicated that an altercation between and adult male and his girlfriend resulted in the female being assaulted and prevented from leaving the home. The victim was taken to hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.
The 52-year-old male accused from North Glengarry Township was arrested and is charged with;
– Assault Causing Bodily Harm – Spousal
– Forcible Confinement
He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on April 4, 2017. His name is being withheld in order to protect the identity of the victim.
South Glengarry – On March 9, 2017 at approximately 3:53am, an SD&G OPP officer intercepted a vehicle on Highway 401, South Glengarry Township. The stop resulted in the seizure of a quantity of suspected marihuana from a male passenger in the vehicle.
A 17-year-old male youth passenger, from North Dundas Township was arrested and is charged with;
– Possession of a Controlled Substance
He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on April 4, 2017. His name is being withheld in accordance with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA).
