LEEDS – Officers of the Rideau Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police are continuing an investigation into an impaired driver stopped at a R.I.D.E check.
On the September 30, 2017 at about 1:00 PM O.P.P officers were conducting a RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) check at the intersection of Station Road and 15 Highway in Rideau Lakes Township. Officers arrested a male driver and charged him after an investigation with Driving with over 80 Mgs of Alcohol in his Blood.
30 year old Brandon EDWARDS of Rideau Lakes was later released and is scheduled to appear in Ontario Court of Justice, Brockville on October 27, 2017 to answer to his charge.
While Leeds OPP officers do increase their number of R.I.D.E. stops over the holidays, they are reminding drivers that R.I.D.E. stops are carried out throughout the year, throughout the province as part of the OPP’s Provincial Traffic Safety Program.
