Prescott OPP Weekly Report for Week of April 3rd to April 9th, 2017

Prescott – Between Monday April 3rd to Sunday April 9th 2017, the Prescott Office of the Grenville County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to 76 general occurrences. Of these occurrences, 15 were in Edwardsburgh/Cardinal Township, 27 in Augusta Township, 28 in the town of Prescott and 15 on highway 401 and 416.

On April 3rd, the Dewar’s Inn on County Road 2, in Augusta Township, was broken into sometime overnight. The unknown suspect stole approximately $400.00 in cash from this business.

On April the 3rd and 5th, the OPP continued to respond to numerous thefts from vehicle calls in the Sunnymeade Ave, Alta Vista Dr. and County Road 26 areas of Augusta Township.

On April 6th, at approximately 12 noon, the OPP executed a drug warrant at a Victoria Street residence in Cardinal. The Grenville County Drug Unit and the Emergency Response Team assisted in this investigation. Seized from the property included an undisclosed amount of cocaine, speed, ecstasy and marihuana. A 22 year old male from Edwardsburgh/Cardinal Township was charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule II substance for the purpose of trafficking – under 3Kg.
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – other drugs x 2

The 17 year old female co-accused, from Augusta Township, was charged with:

  • YCJA Fail to comply with sentence
  • YCJA Possession for the purpose of trafficking -CDSA x 4

On April 9th, two home owners on County Road 2, in Augusta Township reported having their residence broken into sometime overnight. Missing items include: computer equipment, cheque books, credit cards and bank cards.
