OPP: Why not stop at a service centre?

LEEDS –   Members of the Leeds Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a careless transport driver after a traffic complaint in Leeds and the Thousand Islands Township.

On March 15, 2018 at about 3:45 PM officers received a traffic complaint on eastbound Highway 401, west of Mallorytown. Reports were that a tractor trailer was swerving in and out of lanes. The driver was located and found to have been urinating in a bottle while he was mobile.

A 24 year old Greater Toronto Area man was charged with Careless Driving.

In the midst of the Distracted Driving campaign, this incident reinforces that we continue to see drivers engaging in many forms of distraction. This activity while driving will impair a motorists driving ability and is putting other road users at risk.

There are numerous service centres along Highway 401 that provide an assortment of amenities and services. Drivers are encouraged to stop and use them.
