LEEDS – Members of the Ontario Provincial Police with Fire Services from Leeds and the Thousand Islands Township are in the process of planning a multi-jurisdictional Marine Training Day.
On June 14, 2018 Members of the Leeds Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Marine Unit will be hosting a Marine Training Day with other emergency services, in Rockport, Leeds and the Thousand Islands Township. This is the second training event of this magnitude at this location.
The training is to deal with emergency situations as they may occur on a body of water. Emergency services from Police, Fire, Ambulance, Canada Border Services, and Canada Coast Guard are amongst some of the participants in this St Lawrence River training event.
Organizers are looking for volunteers to play the role of ‘victim’ on the day of the event and are asking that if interested to please contact Leeds OPP Constable Aftim Nassar at Aftim.Nassar@opp.ca. A requirement for volunteers is that bring their own personal floatation device (PFD).
The O.P.P wishes to alert members of the public that this is strictly a training event. Members of the media are invited to attend this event.
More to follow as the event nears.
