LEEDS – Members of the Ontario Provincial Police are continuing an investigation into illegal activity after a traffic stop.
On the 20th of April 2017 at about 6:00 PM. Members of the Ontario Provincial Police HET (Highway Enforcement Team), in Leeds and the Thousands Township stopped a vehicle on Highway 401 for a Highway Traffic Act offence. A male was arrested and criminal charges were processed stemming from an investigation where the driver had defrauded the Ministry of Transportation by applying for, and receiving a registration and licence plates for a vehicle in the previous owner’s name.
27 year old Dorin CALDARAS of Laval, Quebec faces charges of Fraud under $5000.00, and Obstructing Police Contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.
He is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice, Provincial Division in Brockville on the 9th of June 2017 to answer to his charges.
The investigation continues.
