LEEDS – The cold weather and snow won’t be going away for a couple of months, so Leeds County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) wants to see motorists more prepared for winter driving.
Safe winter driving requires drivers slowing down and anticipating hazards before they become a problem. This can’t be done if the vehicle’s windows are covered in frost, snow or ice.
The Highway Traffic Act of Ontario provides a fine of $110 for motorists that choose to drive without a clear view, but the consequences can be far worse if you injure someone because you can’t see where you’re going.
Leave extra time to get to your destination in winter months and take the time to clear the vehicle windows for the benefit of all road users. “Make sure it’s clear before it’s in gear”.
