LEEDS – Officers of the Leeds Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are continuing investigations into an impaired transport driver and vehicle driver overnight. Improper lighting on both prompted citizen calls.
On January 3, 2019 at about 10:45 pm OPP officers received a call about a transport on Highway 401 driving all over the road with only one headlight. The truck was located and stopped in Front of Yonge Township. As a result of an investigation, Simona BARABAS, 44 years old of Woodstock, New Brunswick, faces charges of impaired driving and driving with over 80 mgs of alcohol in her blood. She faces further charges under the Highway Traffic Act and Liquor Licence Act for having improper headlights and for having open liquor. She is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of justice, Provincial Division in Brockville on January 25, 2019.
On January 4, 2019 at about 1:00 am Leeds OPP officers received a complaint of a vehicle with no front end including no headlights travelling on County Road 42. The vehicle was located on County Road 28 in Elizabethtown-Kitley Township. As a result of an investigation John MCDONALD, 19 years old of Johnstown faces an impaired driving charge and driving with over 80 mgs of alcohol in his blood. A fail to remain collision on County Road 42 causing front end damage is still under investigation. He is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of justice, Provincial Division in Brockville on January 25, 2019.
Once again Leeds OPP officers credit members of the public for calling in these incidents and stopping two more impaired drivers.
