LEEDS – Officers of the Leeds County Detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police are continuing investigations into incidents involving impaired drivers.
On November 17, 2017, at about 9:30 A.M O.P.P officers were contacted by Canada Border Services Agency – Lansdowne Port of entry after they began an investigation into a suspected impaired driver. After further investigation, 53-year-old Brian SANDERS of No Fixed Address, USA was charged with the offense of Driving with More Than 80 Mgs of Alcohol in his Blood. He is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice, Provincial Division in Brockville on December 1, 2017, to answer to his charge. He was returned to CBSA.
On November 17, 2017, at about 8:15 P.M, a second arrest was made in the Township of Athens. 23-year-old Brittany GEMMILL of Athens was arrested after a traffic stop on Main St in Athens. She faces charges of Impaired Driving and Driving with More Than 80 Mgs of Alcohol in her Blood. She is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice, Provincial Division in Brockville on December 8, 2017.
Both drivers found their vehicles towed and impounded.
Leeds OPP officers will remain diligent in conducting R.I.D.E checks throughout the county at different times and locations.
