Lanark OPP Weekly News for Week of April 10th – 18th, 2017

LANARK COUNTY – Between Monday 10th April 2017 and Tuesday 18th April 2017, which includes the Easter Long Weekend Holiday, officers from the Lanark Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to 325 calls for service.

The calls included:

Motor Vehicle Collisions.

Total 14.                     Including 8 car/deer collisions

Impaired Drivers.

On Monday 10th April at about 11:06pm officers were called to a single motor vehicle collision on Ferguson Falls Road in The Township of Lanark Highlands. The driver was reported to be trapped in the vehicle. The Police discovered as Ford Van on its side in the west ditch.

Stephen KNIGHT (54 years) of The Township of Drummond North Elmsley, is charged:

One (1) Count.          Driving Motor Vehicle while Impaired.

One (1) Count.          Driving with More than 80mgs of Alcohol in Blood.

Both charges are contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

On Saturday 15th April at about 09:06pm officers were called to Stanleyville Road in Tay Valley Township, where a Chevrolet Impala had apparently collided with a number of mail boxes.

Dwight VANALSTINE (50 years) of South Crosby Township is charged:

One (1) Count.          Driving Motor Vehicle while Impaired.

One (1) Count.          Driving with More than 80mgs of Alcohol in Blood.

Both charges are contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

He is further charged:

One (1) Count.          Operate Motor Vehicle with No Insurance.

Contrary to the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act.

On Sunday 16th April at about 05:25am officers were called to a Ford Pick Up Truck on the Highway 7 / Ashton Station Road of ramp. The vehicle was stationary at a stop sign and was reported to have been there for five minutes.

Devon EAGLE (24 years) of the City of Ottawa is charged:

One (1) Count.          Care or Control of a Motor Vehicle while Impaired.

One (1) Count.          Care or Control of a Motor Vehicle with More than 80mg of Alcohol in Blood.

Both charges are contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

On Sunday 16th April at about 09:13pm officers stopped a Ford Windstar Van traveling on Highway 511 in the Township of Lanark Highlands. Suzanne ROBINSON (55 years) of the Township of Lanark Highlands, is charged:

One (1) Count.          Driving Motor Vehicle while Impaired.

One (1) Count.          Driving with More than 80mgs of Alcohol in Blood.

Both charges are contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

All the above persons were released to appear at a later date in the Provincial Court in the Town of Perth.

Traffic enforcement

On Saturday 15th April at about 08:05am on Highway 7 in the Township of Drummond North Elmsley, officers stopped a west bound, Hyundai automobile that was traveling a speed in excess of the posted speed limit.

A 43 year old woman from the Town of Carleton Place is charged:

One (1) Count.            Race a Motor Vehicle.

One (1) Count.              Fail to Produce Driving Licence.

One (1) Count.              Fail to Produce Vehicle Permit.

All charges contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

She is also charged:

One (1) Count.              Fail to Produce Valid Insurance Card.

Contrary to the Compulsory Automobile Insurance act.

Domestic Incidents

Following the investigation of an incident reported on Tuesday 11th April in Beckwith Township, 45 year old man from Smiths Falls is charged:

One (1) Count.         Uttering Threats to Cause Death or Bodily Harm.

Investigation continues into a Domestic Assault reported in the Town of Perth on Wednesday 12th April in the Town of Perth.

One incident related to child custody and three other to property and separation advice or standing by to prevent a Breach of the Peace.

Family Disputes:

 Total 5.
