Lanark OPP Weekly News for April 24th to May 1st, 2017

LANARK COUNTY – Between Monday 24th April 2017 and Monday 1st May 2017      officers from the Lanark Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to 391 calls for service.

The calls included:

Motor Vehicle Collisions.

Total 17.  Including 7 car/deer.

Impaired Drivers.

At 01:00am on Sunday 30th April, officers on patrol stopped a Chevrolet car driving on Gore Street East with no lights. The car was stopped on Foster Street. Michael THOMAS (36 years) of the Township of Lanark Highlands, is charged:

One (1) Count.                Drive Motor Vehicle while Ability impaired.

One (1) Count.               Drive with more than 80mgs of Alcohol in Blood.

Both charges are contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. THOMAS was released to appear at the Provincial Court in The Town of Perth.

Highway Safety.

At 02:53am on Saturday 29th April 2017, on Highway 7 in Drummond North Elmsley Township, officers stopped an east bound, Dodge pick-up truck that was traveling at 157 kilometers per hour in a posted 80 kilometers per hour zone.

A 37 year old man from the City of Ottawa is charged:

One (1) Count.                  Stunt driving.

One (1) Count                    Drive while Licence Suspended.

Both charges are contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

Domestic Incidents

At 10:54pm on Saturday 29th April officers responded to a call in the Town of Carleton Place. A 52 year old man from the Town of Carleton Place, is charged:

One (1) Count.               Assault.

Contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. The man was released, on conditions, to appear at the Provincial Court in the Town of Perth.

At 07:30pm on Sunday 30th April, officers responded to a call in the Municipality of Mississippi Mills. A 29 year old man from the Municipality of Mississippi Mills is charged:

Two (2) Counts               Assault.

One (1) Count                Forcible Confinement.

Two (2) Counts              Mischief Under $5000.

One (1) Count                Assault Police Officer.

One (1) Count                Cause Disturbance.

All charges are contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. The man was held in custody pending a Bail Hearing at the Provincial Court in the Town of Perth.

At 09:48pm on Thursday 27th April, officers responded to a call in the Town of Perth.  A 28 year old man from Drummond North Elmsley Township, is charged:

One (1) Count                 Mischief Under $5,000.

One (1) Count                 Fail to Comply with Probation Order.

The man was held in custody pending a Bail Hearing at the Provincial Court in the Town of Perth.

Officers continue to investigate an allegation of Domestic Assault in the Township of Lanark Highlands.

Four (4) other calls related to child custody issues, another four (4) related to unwanted communication and one (1) other to property ownership.

Family Disputes

Six (6) Total.

Including the ongoing investigation of assault in Tay Valley Township reported on Friday 28th April.
