Lanark OPP Reminds Drivers of Restrictions on Lanark County Roads

LANARK COUNTY – The Lanark County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) would like to make drivers aware that reduced load restrictions are in effect on designated Lanark County roads. This is done annually to protect certain county roads that are susceptible to damage during the spring thaw.

The Lanark County Public Works Department has reduced load restrictions of 5 tonnes per axle in place with signs posted on affected roads. The restriction will be removed when the likelihood of road damage has diminished, usually by early May.

Please note it is an offence under Section 122 of the Highway Traffic Act to transport loads of more than 5 tonnes per axle on roads where reduced loads are in effect. Commercial vehicles are asked to plan routes ahead and obey signage.

The restriction affects all county roads with some exceptions, including County Roads 7B, 10 (from Cty. Rd. 1 in Perth to St. John Catholic High School), 12 (from Cty. Rd. 511 to 7th Concession of Lanark), 16 (Wolf Grove Road), 16A (Bridge, Martin South, Perth and Queen Streets within Almonte), 29, 43, 49 and 511.

Contact the Public Works Department for info at 613- 267-1353 or check www.county.lanark.on.ca/Page1887.aspx  for information about county roads.
