Lanark County OPP News Reports for Week of Jan 15th – 22nd, 2018

LANARK COUNTY – Between Monday January 15, 2018 and Monday January 22, 2018 officers from the Lanark Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to 369 calls for service.

The calls included:

Motor Vehicle Collisions.

Single Motor Vehicle off Road (“In Ditch”)   10

At 1:23am on Saturday January 20 officers were called to single motor vehicle collision on Craig Street in the Town of Perth.

Investigation revealed that an eastbound Ford passenger vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree. The driver, a thirty (30) year old woman from the Town of Smiths Falls sustained major injuries and was conveyed to hospital in the City of Kingston. The only other occupant of the vehicle was a front seat passenger, a twenty nine (29) year old woman from the Town of Smiths Falls who sustained minor injuries.

Investigation revealed that the actions of the passenger had caused the collision and she is charged by means of Provincial Offence Notice,

One (1) Count       Careless Driving

Contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

Impaired Drivers

At 9:29pm on Wednesday January 17, officers patrolling the Town of Perth stopped a Ford passenger vehicle being driven in a gas station lot on Dufferin Street.

Shawn BURKE (38 years) of Drummond North Elmsley Township is charged;

One (1) Count      Care or Control of a Motor Vehicle While Impaired by Alcohol

One (1) Count      Care or Control of a Motor Vehicle with Over 80mgs of Alcohol per 100mls of Blood

One (1) Count       Driving While Disqualified

Contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

He was released to appear at the Provincial Court in the Town of Perth.

At 1:26am on Friday January 19, officers were called to a single motor vehicle collision on Appleton Side Road near the intersection with Industrial Road in the Municipality of Mississippi Mills.

On arrival the officers found a Volkswagen passenger vehicle in the east ditch.

Jason ROBITAILLE (34 years) of the municipality of Mississippi Mills is charged;

One (1) Count      Care or Control of a Motor Vehicle While Impaired by Alcohol

One (1) Count      Care or Control of a Motor Vehicle with Over 80mgs of Alcohol per 100mls of Blood Contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

He was released to appear at the Provincial Court in the Town of Perth.

Domestic Incidents

Officers dealt with thirteen (13) incidents relating to property and communication disputes.

Family Disputes

Total 6.
