Lanark County OPP Detachment Weekly News for Week of May 27 – June 3rd, 2019

LANARK COUNTY – Between Monday, May 27 and Monday, June 3, 2019 officers from the Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to 420 calls for service.

The calls included:

Motor Vehicle Collisions

  Total: 29                    Including:

Single Motor Vehicle off Road (“in ditch”): 1

Impaired Drivers 3

  An anonymous driving complaint from a concerned citizen to Lanark County OPP resulted in the arrest and charging of Frank NITSCHMANN, age 65 years of Drummond North Elmsley Township, for Impaired Driving Over 80. The accused’s driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded and he was released from custody on a Promise to Appear with a scheduled date at the Ontario Court of Justice Perth on June 17, 2019.

On May 31, 2019, officers from the Carleton Place OPP were dispatched to County Road 29 in Mississippi Mills Township regarding a vehicle in the ditch. The subsequent investigation resulted in the arrest of Caroline HILL, 39 years of age of Carleton Place, Ontario. The accused was charged with Refusal to Provide Breath Sample and Impaired Driving. A court date is scheduled for June 24, 2019 at the Ontario Court of Justice Perth.

Domestic Incidents 8

  Officers from the Carleton Place OPP investigated a domestic incident which took place within the Town of Carleton Place on May 29, 2019 just before 5:00 p.m. A verbal dispute turned physical in a business parking lot and resulted in the arrest and charge of a 44 year old female from Mississippi Mills Township.  The accused who cannot be identified in order to protect the victim, was released on a Promise to Appear with Undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice Perth on June 24, 2019.

  Lanark County OPP are looking for assistance from the public regarding a dump trailer valued at $10,000 which was stolen from outside Glenview Iron & Metal sometime between 7:00 a.m. on Friday, May 24 and noon on Monday, May 27, 2019. The trailer was filled with old drywall, lumber and debris at the time of the theft. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 1-888-210-2222 or Crime Stoppers.

A 51 year old male from the Province of Quebec has been charged with Sexual Assault and Sexual Interference after an incident was reported to Carleton Place OPP on May 28, 2019 from Montague Township. The male cannot be identified in order to protect the teenage victim.  The accused was released on a Promise to Appear with Undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice Perth on July 15, 2019.
