Lanark County OPP Detachment News for Week of May 8th – 15th, 2017

LANARK COUNTY – Between Monday 8th May 2017 and Monday 15th May 2017 officers from the Lanark Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to 398 calls for service.

The calls included:

Motor Vehicle Collisions.

30 Total.    Including 10 Car/ Deer and 2 Car/Turkey.

On Friday 12th May at 09:53pm OPP were called to a two vehicle collision on Highway 7 east of Townline Road in Beckwith Township.

Investigation revealed that an eastbound Toyota SUV crossed the centre line and struck a westbound GMC pick-up truck that was pulling a trailer, causing both vehicles and the trailer to roll over.

Nine people sustained minor injuries and were treated at Carleton Place Hospital. One other person sustained major injuries and was transported to Hospital in Ottawa.

The driver of the Toyota, Shao Xi  XING (54 years) of the City of Ottawa, is charged:

One (1) Count.                 Careless Driving.

Contrary to the Highway Traffic Act..

Domestic Incidents

 At 09:24pm on Monday 8th May OPP were called to a home in Almonte in the Municipality of Mississippi Mills. A thirty seven (37) year old from that Municipality is charged:

Four (4) Counts                   Assault.

Two (2) Counts                    Mischief.

All offences are contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

The man was held in custody pending a Bail Hearing at the Provincial court in the Town of Perth.

 

Break and Enters

Investigation continues in three incidents.

On the morning of Tuesday 9th May 2017, a resident on Townline Road in the Town of Carleton Place reported overnight thefts from her vehicle and home.

On the afternoon of Thursday 11th May 2017, a resident on Boulton Street in the Town of Perth, reported that person(s) unknown had tried to break in to her home causing damage to her door.

The investigation continues of a Break and Enter and Theft at St Bridget Catholic Church in Tay Valley Township.

Thieves entered the Church overnight Monday 8th May and Tuesday 9th May.
