LEEDS- Officers of the Leeds and the Thousand Islands Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested an impaired driver after he was stopped for stunt driving.
On January 22, 2019 at about 10:30 pm Leeds OPP officers were conducting patrol on Highway 401 in Leeds and the Thousand Islands Township when a westbound vehicle was stopped for the offence of stunt driving. Investigation revealed that the driver was impaired by alcohol.
22 year old Puneetinder Singh SEKHON of Stoney Creek, Ontario is scheduled to answer to Impaired Driving and Driving with Over 80 Mgs of Alcohol in his Blood charges at the Brockville Court of Justice on March 15, 2019. Further charges of stunt driving, being a novice driving with blood alcohol content above zero, and having liquor readily available were also laid. Two passengers in the car were charged with consuming alcohol in the car.
“All drivers, including inexperienced drivers are expected to adhere to the rules of the road, including impaired driving.” said Leeds OPP Staff Sergeant Josh Kingsley. “Simply put, impaired driving is not worth the risk. There are many alternative options for anyone who has been drinking rather than taking the risk of driving while impaired.”
