Impaired Driver Lands in Cold Water then Hot

LEEDS –   Officers of the Leeds County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are continuing an investigation involving an impaired driver in a collision.

On the February 3, 2018 at about 6:30 P.M OPP officers were advised of a collision in Westport where one of the drivers vehicle was submerged in water. Investigation revealed that a northbound vehicle failed to stop at a stop sign on Bedford Street and then collided with an eastbound vehicle on Main Street. The vehicle continued north over a dock and into the Upper Rideau Lake where it came to rest almost fully submerged in water.

After further investigation the driver was arrested for Impaired Driving, Having More Than 80 Mgs of Alcohol in His Blood While Operating a Motor Vehicle, and Dangerous Driving, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

19 year old Austin WATSON of Harrowsmith has an upcoming court appearance scheduled for February 23, 2018 at the Ontario Court of Justice, Provincial Division in Brockville.

The investigation continues.
