Brockville – Early yesterday afternoon Brockville Police received several calls of a man on the Willian Street overpass with a handgun waving at vehicles passing by and then concealing it in his belt.
Officers throughout the city responded to the call on the overpass near the William Street Tim Horton’s and located the suspect, a 24 year old Brockville man, on the overpass. Officers on the scene performed a “high risk” arrest due to the nature of the call and observed the weapon in the rear of the man’s pants. During the arrest the man threw the weapon to the side and continued to struggle with officers until he was finally handcuffed.
The young man was taken to the Brockville General Hospital as a precautionary measure, and the officers suffered only very minor injuries. The firearm was recovered was found to be a pellet pistol. The 24 year old will be facing several weapons related charges and appear at a future court date.
